Actress, singer and style icon, Jane Birkin is best known for her sultry voice over on Je T'aime Moi Non Plus, her torrid French love affairs and that eponymous Hermes bag.
Of the men in her life, the famously gap-toothed Brit speaks very highly, but not so much of her fashion fame, it transpires.
In an interview this week, Ms Birkin, 65, admitted she only has one of the coveted totes which is customised with stickers and badges to disguise it from being so obviously 'a bloody Birkin bag.'
Speaking to Australia's Sunday Mail in Adelaide, she asked: 'What's the use of having a second one?
'You only need one and that busts your arm; they're bloody heavy. I'm going to have to have an operation for tendonitis in the shoulder.'
Though she downplayed her preference for the over-sized accessory, the Parisian local is on her fourth bag, the previous three having been auctioned off for charity.
'If they can go to a good cause then all the better,' she laughed over the phone to the antipodean paper. 'It makes them a rather jolly bag instead of being a snobbish bag.
And hang as many things as you can [on it] so it doesn't look like a bloody Birkin bag!'
The film star and singer was involved in a string of passionate liaisons with the likes of composer John Barry, Serge Gainsbourg and Jacques Doillon before Hermes launched the bag that catapaulted her to even further reaching fame.

Sitting on a plane next to Hermes chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas, she lamented the challenges of finding a good weekender after the contents of her straw bag spilled out onto the floor.
Mr Dumas created the Birkin bag soon after to the adulation of the style elite and all those who follow them.
Victoria Beckham is famously fon of the Hermes design, reportedly owning a collection worth over $2million, while Kim Kardashian has so many, she uses one as a gym bag.
